Year in review
Your year told in a few cards — what you recorded, where the money went, how it compares with last year — and one image you can share, all worked out on your phone
The year in review looks back on a year of movements: how much you recorded, what came in and went out, where it went and how it compares with the year before. Everything is worked out on your device from the movements already there, so it works offline and with encryption on.
Open it
- In December and January, the More menu shows a Your 2026 tile (the year changes with the season): in December it covers the running year so far, in January the year just ended. The dashboard also shows a one-time card, Your 2026 in review is ready; See it opens the review and Not now hides the card for that year on this device.
- Any time of year, open More → Annual insights and tap Year in review. The year picker at the top lists every year with enough data.
A year needs movements in at least 3 different months to have a review.
The cards
Swipe left or right, use the arrows under the card, or press the arrow keys. A card shows only when the year has something to put on it.
- Your year in numbers — movements recorded, days with at least one entry and your longest run of consecutive days. Movements you entered or imported count; repeating ones the app added on its own do not.
- In and out — income, expenses and what you kept (income minus expenses), with the share of income you kept: the same figure as the dashboard's saving ratio. Money moved to savings is shown on its own line.
- Where it went — your five largest expense categories, with subcategories counted in their parent.
- Biggest and calmest months — by expenses. While the year is running, the current month can be the biggest but never the calmest: it isn't over yet.
- Versus last year — expenses and income against the year before, over the months both years have movements in: a month you didn't track yet is not a month of zero spending. While the year is running, last year stops at the same date, so eleven months are never measured against twelve.
- Net worth — from the end of the previous year to the end of this one (or today), once you have two or more accounts.
- Most used tag — the tag on the most movements, and what it cost.
- Your year in one image — the image to share.
Amounts are in your display currency. Movements on an account in another currency are converted at the latest rates (marked ≈); one with no rate yet is left out and the card says so.
Share the image
The last card shows a preview of exactly what will be shared — a 1080 × 1920 image on the CaliMoney yellow with your counts, your longest streak, the share of income you kept and how your spending changed (left out in hidden mode, and the share kept is left out if you spent more than came in). Tap Share image to pick an app; where sharing isn't available, the image downloads instead.
The image never shows a category or tag name. Amounts appear only if you turn on Show amounts on the image, which is off every time you open the review and can't be turned on while hidden mode is on.
The image is made on your device and leaves it only when you share it. See Privacy.
Hidden mode
With hidden mode on, every amount on the cards is masked and the change against last year shows the masked amount instead of a percentage, like the dashboard's year-over-year card.
