Label movements across categories — a trip, a project, an event — see what each one cost, and let AI find them for you

A tag is a label you add to a movement to group it with others that belong to the same occasion — Lisbon trip, Kitchen renovation, Wedding. A category says what the money was for; a tag says which occasion. One tag can span flights, hotels and dinners, across any number of days and months, and a movement can carry more than one tag.

Add a tag to a movement

  1. On Add, open Account, tags, repeat under the description and tap Add tag (when editing a movement it is already open).
  2. Type the tag and press Enter (or type a comma). Or tap one of your recently used tags shown under the field — the tag you used most recently comes first, so during a trip its tag is always one tap away.
  3. Save the movement.

A tag you type matches an existing one whatever the case: lisbon joins Lisbon. A leading # is dropped. A movement holds up to 10 tags of up to 40 characters each. Tap × on a tag to remove it.

After saving on Add, the tags stay in the form, so you can record the next expense of the same trip straight away.

Recurring movements carry no tags; once one has created a movement, you can tag that movement like any other.

See what a tag cost

Tap More in the bottom bar, then Tags. Each tag shows:

  • the days it spans (first to last movement);
  • how many movements carry it;
  • what was spent (expenses) and received (income), in your display currency;
  • its three largest expense categories.

Transfers and balance adjustments can be tagged, but they never count as spent or received. Amounts on an account in another currency are converted at the latest exchange rate, like every other total.

Tap Show movements to open the movements list filtered to that tag, across your whole history.

Rename or remove a tag

On Tags, tap Rename to change a tag on every movement that carries it — renaming it to a tag that already exists merges the two. Tap Remove, then Sure?, to take it off every movement. The movements themselves stay.

Find trips and projects with AI

On Tags, tap Suggest tags. The AI looks at your untagged movements of the last 4 months and proposes a tag for each group that clearly belongs together — a few days of flights, lodging and restaurants, or weeks of hardware-store purchases.

Each suggestion shows the movements it would go on; tap the count to see them. Edit the proposed name if you like, then tap Tag as … to apply it, or Dismiss. Nothing is tagged until you apply a suggestion.

What is sent to the AI provider: for each untagged movement, its date, type and category — and its description only if you turned on Let AI read descriptions in Settings → Privacy. Your existing tag names are sent so a suggestion can reuse one. Amounts, accounts and your email are never sent. Requests are processed by Fireworks AI with zero data retention. Suggestions need a connection.

Descriptions are what name a trip ("Hotel Lisboa", "Ryanair"), so suggestions are noticeably better with that option on.

In the list, exports and backups

  • List: tags appear under each movement. Search finds them with or without #, and Filters → Tag shows one tag only. See Filters & Search.
  • Copy as text ends with the movement's tags, as #tag.
  • Excel and CSV exports have a Tags column; the full-account export and backups include tags. See Export.
  • With encryption on, tags are encrypted with the rest of the movement.
