Net worth
See what you own minus what you owe, and how it moved month by month
Net worth adds up every account — cash, bank, savings — and subtracts what you owe on cards and loans. The page shows the figure today and how it changed at the end of each month.
It appears once you have two or more accounts.
How to open it
- On the Dashboard, tap Net worth › on the net balance card at the top, or
- tap Net worth in the bottom bar — from your second account on it takes the fourth slot.
Reading the page
- The big number is your net worth today. Below it, how much it moved since the first month shown — in money and in percent. Tap the ⓘ next to Net worth today for a two-line reminder of how it's counted, or see the Glossary.
- The chart shows your net worth at the end of each month, with values on the right and months below. Tap or hover on a month (or use the arrow keys) to read its figure above the chart. Pick a range with 6 m · 1 y · 5 y · All; the app remembers your choice on this device.
- Tap Breakdown to split the chart by kind of account. What you own stacks above zero, loans and cards you owe stack below it; the coloured squares next to each group below the chart are the legend.
- If you've set any savings goals, a Savings goals card under the chart shows how far each one has come. Under it, a Debt payoff card lists every loan you still owe on (and any credit card you gave an interest rate) — see Debt payoff.
- Under the chart your accounts are grouped by kind with their balance and a small trend line. Tap an account to see all its movements.
- If you own a home or a business stake, tap Liquid only at the top to leave them out of the total, the chart and the list — so a new estimate of your house doesn't hide what's happening to the money you can actually spend. Investments stay in. The app remembers the choice on this device.
The chart starts at your first recorded month, even with a longer range selected. If you only have one month of data, the page shows today's total and tells you the trend appears after your second month.
Debt payoff
For each Loan with money still owed — and each Card you gave an interest rate — the card shows:
- When it's paid off — the month what you owe reaches zero if it keeps shrinking at the pace of the last 3 months (or since the account opened, if that's more recent).
- The pace — how much the balance went down (or up) a month. It's the net change, so new purchases on a card slow it down, and a repayment booked as a transfer into the loan speeds it up.
- Interest — if you gave the account an Annual interest rate, roughly what this month's interest is and how much interest builds up until it's gone.
To add the rate, go to Settings → Accounts, tap the card or loan, then Edit and fill in Annual interest rate %. It's optional for a loan: without it you still get the payoff date. A credit card shows up only once it has a rate — a card you clear every month owes something most days, and a payoff date for it would mean nothing.
The payoff date follows your balance, so interest charges you record on the account are already part of it. If you don't record them, the bank's interest will slow you down and the real date will be somewhat later. The interest figure is an estimate on the remaining balance at the rate you entered, assuming it stays the same. When the balance isn't going down, or it would take more than 100 years, the card says so instead of giving a date.
Tap the ⓘ next to Debt payoff for a quick reminder, or see the Glossary.
How it's calculated
Each account counts from its opening balance and its As of date, plus every movement from that day up to today — the same balance you see in Settings → Accounts. A movement you enter ahead (say, rent due at the end of the month) counts once its day comes. A loan counts as a negative amount (enter its opening balance with a minus sign). Transfers between your accounts move money around and never change your net worth.
An account you added recently still counts in earlier months: the app works back from its opening balance, undoing the movements dated in between. So adding an account never makes your net worth jump as if the money had just appeared.
Everything is computed on your device from your local data, so the page works offline and with encryption on.
In Hidden mode every amount is masked, the change since the start of the range is hidden and Breakdown is not available. The shape of the line stays, drawn without a zero line or values on the axis, so it reveals neither an amount nor whether you're above or below zero.
